I came home from work one day, and Jayden asked me if I wanted to go fishing . So I took him to one of Brevards famous spots. I was reeling in my cast and out of  no where “DAD I GOT ONE” ! Thats my boy he hooked it, reeled it, and lipped it . He has reached manhood!

Grouper in Grant?

Chris's Grouper

Went out to Grant, Florida right here in the world famous Brevard County!! It was hot, a full moon and there was a fat lady watching us from the distance. We were short on real living bait. So Chris decided that D.O.A. Shrimp would be best bet. As he flexed his muscles on a hard cast he could only think of the failure ahead.  Then out of NO WHERE! Chris’s drag started running, Then Damion SCREAMED “Do you need HELP?” Chris said no I can handle my own. About 20 Min. went by..  ok maybe more like 1 to 2 min. He pulled in what was thought to be a river catfish. Then after getting it up in the light we saw it was a Grouper. Crazy!!

Damion catfish

Chris, Donny and I decide to throw out a cast net and snag some shrimp and mullet. I get a nice little mullet on and cast out, after a few minutes… BAM I set the hook. My drag is running and the fish is going deep. Started going under the dock. I was able to fight my prize through and around pillars covered in barnacles. Now I get the chance to pull my prize from the water and… it is a stupid catfish. So that sums it up pretty good.

Brevard County Miniature Game Fish Championship

trout and fliunder

I saw all the world records recently on-line. Then it hit me.. I think Chris and I might have the world record for smallest trout and flounder picked up at the same time. These were not big fighters as you can guess but one hell of a story line. Have you even picked up a game fish this small!!

Troutness

whiteSeatrout, or Weakfish, are one of my favorite fish to catch because of the way they strike…You can find them easier than other species (other than Ladyfish which are also fun to fight) and you can eat them if you like worms and parasites with your fish. But mostly I like Seatrout mostly because of how attractive they are. I like the shiny colors near the tail and there big yellow eyes.  This day I ran into a school of lunker trout…had many hits and pulled in about three. Here is one of them. No motor zone is where its at.

Ok so I have a question…

Bad Day of Fishing or Important Lesson Learned?

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

This Sucks!

You might ask how did I know when my day of fishing went wrong. Well I can assure you that I know the exact moment that this day went to crap! I was fishing with a BABY 1- and had just set up the camera for video. I started talking to the camera about the Small Large Mouth I had just picked up. I was lipping the fish when it wiggled and wobbled and SLIP!! The hook right in my finger. At first I could not believe it just happened! Then I relized that this was a crappy situation. I had to jump a 8 foot chain link fence with this in my finger with my fishing bag and my rod and reel. I saw another guy fishing out of the back of his van and walked up to him and asked if he had a pair of dykes and his response was “Oh my God, You got to get away from me with that. Your gonna make me sick!” So I ended up driving home with it and used needle nose and peroxide to remove hook. The lesson learned was ALWAYS use pliers to remove treble hooks from a fishes mouth. I hope you learned something from this experience.
